Remembering Marina Paulinyova 1897 - 1945 on the 75th anniversary of her death

Slovak Ambassador HE Lubomir Rehak begins the refurbishment of Marina Paulinyova's grave at Brookwood Cemetery helped by Consulate staff and Gerry Manolas. Marina Paulinyova was a remarkable woman born in 1897 in Slovakia who emigrated to the USA in 1905. She joined the American Red Cross as a 22 year old and travelled widely supporting Czechoslovak soldiers returning to her homeland in 1921. She worked in Chicago from 1924 and later became a diplomat promoting Slovakia. Exiled from Slovakia during WW2 she worked with the International and British Red Cross. Marina died in a Liberator plane crash in 1945. Her story long suppressed by the post-war communist regime is now better known.
